Quick start
Five minutes, no build step. You need a site served over HTTPS (or localhost).
-
Add the script. Put this in your site’s
<head>(or before</body>):<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/agentprose@0/dist/agentprose.min.js" defer></script>agentprose@0follows the latest 0.x release, so your site gets fixes without touching the tag. Where the tag goes for your generator:Generator File Hugo layouts/partials/head.htmlor your theme’s head partialJekyll _includes/head.htmlAstro your base layout’s <head>(withis:inline)Eleventy your base layout Next.js <Script strategy="afterInteractive">inapp/layout.tsxGhost Settings → Code injection → Site header WordPress the plugin, or the tag in your theme Copy-paste versions for each are in Static site generators.
-
Check what agents see. Open any page with
?agentprose-inspectadded to the URL. The 🔌 panel lists every tool; fill in the inputs and press Run. It works in every browser: with native WebMCP it callsdocument.modelContext.executeTool(), otherwise it calls agentprose directly. From a terminal, the CLI gives an agent-readiness report for any URL:
Terminal window npx agentprose inspect https://example.com/a-post/ -
Try it with a real agent. In Chrome, enable
chrome://flags/#enable-webmcp-testingand restart. Open your site, then in DevTools:const tools = await document.modelContext.getTools();tools.map((t) => t.name);await document.modelContext.executeTool(tools.find((t) => t.name === 'search_posts'), { query: 'pricing' });Agents that support WebMCP see the same tools. To use them from Claude Desktop, Cursor or Claude Code, follow the MCP-B guide.
-
Optional: tune it. Everything is optional, and set with
data-*attributes on the same tag:<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/agentprose@0/dist/agentprose.min.js" deferdata-content=".post-body"data-subscribe="https://example.com/newsletter"data-contact="https://example.com/contact"></script>Every attribute is in the configuration reference.
-
Optional: big archives. Feed and sitemap discovery handles a few thousand posts well. For larger sites, or full-text search instead of feed excerpts, generate an index at build time:
Terminal window npx agentprose build public --base-url https://example.com/Deploy the generated
agentprose.jsonandagentprose/folder with the site. See Large archives.
